If you were to Google my name, you'd probably find (on LInkedIn) that I have an MBA, that I graduated three times, that I've held leadership and management roles and having read this, you might assume that I'm confident and accomplished and comfortable in my own skin, but that's not the full story ...
Reading between the Lines ... Spoiler Alert - Not all of my life is 'Instagramable' (but we'll come back to this.
Let's rewind slightly.
Although my teaching years have been interrupted by my having a family, needing to bring in 'a wage' (as they called it back then) and countless calamities, that you wouldn't wish upon anyone, I've been fortunate enough to have the strength and resilience to keep my head above water and to simply never quit!
Because the truth is ...
Anyone can give up, it's the simplest thing in the world to do, but to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.
Here's the best advice I can give you.
And I say this to myself on repeat…
There is no way, if you’ve worked this hard, that you wont be rewarded.
You have to believe.
This time is preparing you for something amazing that simply hasn’t happened yet.
Keep going.
I repeated that over and over and over and over again;
Each time I doubted myself.
Each time I wanted to throw in the towel.
Each time I would start to discredit myself.
Each time I would start to feel sorry for myself.
I’d say to myself ...
NO… there’s just no way I’m going to believe that something amazing isn’t coming my way.
I’ve worked too hard.
And when you get yourself into that mindset, it creates a sense of resilience.
And momentum
And resolve
That you need in order to keep going, when the **** hits the fan or when you feel disappointed or when life is beating you down.
OK, so back to my journey. I was a teacher of English and I.T. (Information Technology), so I knew I could write, I knew I could teach and I knew I could be ahead of the game with technology. I had the mindset to succeed and my drive and progression had taken me up through the ranks of qualifications until I'd achieved my highest ever qualification which was my MBA (Masters in Business Admin). So there you have it. I had the business acumen to run an online business and to see it snowball into what it is today.
1) It's never too late
2) You can if you think you can
3) Just do it
4) You're never too old
